change of plans...

plans are useful and good. i make a lot of plans and it would be great if everything would always work out that way but i believe you have to be able to change them if you feel that the plan is not completely right anymore. people change, places change and plans also change.
our plan was to come to germany, take part in a 4 year program to learn bio-dynamic farming and somewhere on the way buy our farm. what we really wanted to do though is just buy the farm and start working on it! the program would have given us the opportunity to learn about farming and earn some money while doing so (that is what we thought - turns out the money is not worth talking about). i thought it would be a good base for everything else (including forest gardening and permaculture - that is what we really want to do).
when we got to the farm last week (it is an amazing farm with a lot of really nice people living there) we really liked it but also started realizing how far away large scale agriculture is from permaculture or small scale gardening and how it is not exactly what we want. also we never lived with so many people, r. really needs some time to take a german course, i should do my drivers licence and a lot of other small things. still the people were so friendly and the farm so beautiful i had a hard time admitting that it might not be the best thing to do at the moment..
after a few days of talking we finally decided that we would not do the program and instead look for a farm (permaculture and all?) where we can wwoof or work with maybe enough time for us to do some the other things as well.
i have a hard time making difficult decisions like that but i am happy we did it and it feels good.
now we are looking for a small farm in the north somewhere prefferably with goats or other small animals, permaculture and/or a forest garden where we can live some months, learn and work and have the time to find our own space.
